A magnificent Baroque building designed around an inner court yard, which is rather rare in Bizkaia. Its most striking feature, without a doubt, is the monumental main façade which is composed of two towers flanking a central belfry.

The austere decoration of the side walls contrasts with the ornateness of the centre, using richly moulded plaques and a sculpture of San Miguel with a rosette on top. The mansion replaced the old tower of the Adan de Yarza Family, of which there are some remains.

The blueprints came from Madrid in 1720, with the local stonemason from Lekeitio, Martin de Zaldua, commissioned with its construction. The majesty of the building, together with the beauty of its location next to the Lea River, all contribute to making Zubieta the most stunning mansion in Bizkaia.
